PROM FASHION

Does your old prom dress just hang in your closet? Do you want to hang on to your dress, which gave you so many good memories, but really need the closet space? Maybe you should try recycling your old prom dress in some fun, original ways.

Alter and wear as a cocktail dress: Turning your prom dress into a cocktail dress can be a fun project. Take some scissors and a sewing machine and turn the designer dress into a design of your own!!! Alternatively, you could just cut off the top and wear it as a hot new shirt.

Make everyday accessories: Just think about it! The top can be turned into a prom dress purse. The bottom of your dresses skirt could be turned into a scarf. You could even take pieces of the fabric and turn them into bracelets and neck chokers. Not only will you have hot accessories for no extra cost, but you'll also remember your prom night ever time you accessorize your outfits.

Slumber prom: Want to wear your prom dress one more time? Throw an all girls prom dress slumber party. Make this night fun and give out awards and party favors to your girl friends.

Make a prom dress body pillow: This probably only works for some dresses. Sew up the skirt and sleeves, stuff cotton in through the neck line, sew up the top of your dress, and voila! Prom dress pillow! Now you can hug your prom dress every night. We know you've always wanted to.

Sell it: If you know you are only going to wear your prom dress once, maybe you should make a little money from your dress. After all, what did your dress ever do for you? It should go out and get a job! There are about 5000 listings on eBay for prom dresses every day, so you might want to try a consignment or thrift shop.

Donate it: If you know you're prom dress is going to take up unwanted closet space, and you don't want to see your precious dress sold to some dingy thrift store, you should consider donating your prom dress to a charity like the Fairy Godmother Project. These charities take your old dresses and give them to a deserving Cinderella. Your dress brought you so much joy; wouldn't you like to pass that happiness on?
