Can you lose weight without exercise and proper diet? No. Unfortunately, if you want to lose weight, you will have to go on some kind of diet (or pay for very expensive and painful surgery). However, it is possible to work with your figure to look thinner and shapelier. The clothing you wear can change a person’s perspective of your body. In other words, the clothes you wear can play tricks on the mind.
Simply dressing for your body type can do wonders for your figure. If you have an apple shape, meaning everything you eat adds weight only to your stomach, wear clothes that cover your stomach, but flatter the rest of your body. Fish tail skirts and long jackets will do wonders for you. If you have a pear shape, meaning that you have larger hips and thighs and butt, and are smaller on top, wear darker bottoms and highlight your smallness of your top half by wearing lighter tops. A-line skirts are perfect for the pare-shaped woman. If you have an hour-glass figure, meaning that your waist is small but your bosom and hips are wide, highlight the smallness of your waist with belts. Anything that cinches at your waist will make you look thin. Try wearing single button blazers. Hour glass figures should stay away from unstructured clothing.
Always wear the right size clothing. Fitting into a smaller size may boost your ego, but if the article of clothing is tight, the stretched out fabric will make you look heavier than you are. If looking bigger is something you want, wear a smaller size than you can fit in to. Unless you are sure you can pull it off, avoid clingy clothing. Clingy, tight clothing usually stands to highlight the flaws in any sub-conscious woman’s figure.
The colors and patterns we wear can play tricks on the eyes as well. Every worldly woman knows that black is a slimming color. However, women who always wear black may look like they are depending on black’s slimming effect all of the time. Adding some deep colors like brown, dark purple, or maroon will slim you down and keep you from having that “trying to hard” look. Wearing vertical stripes will slim you down. Avoid wearing horizontal stripes, which will make you look wider. Any vertical pattern will make you look thinner, in general. If you are trying to hide your stomach, patterns around your stomach should be avoided at all costs.
Just because you are not at your perfect weight does not mean you have to sit at home and eat celery sticks. In fact, you’ll probably lose weight if you go out and stop thinking about your weight at all. Go out and get your self some clothes that make you feel beautiful. Nothing is more important than how you feel in your own skin. Don’t forget, shopping burns a lot of calories.
